"AN INTRODUCTION TO HYPNOSIS"

Hypnosis is defined as an altered state of consciousness which lies between awake and sleep achieved through concentration, relaxation, suggestion, and expectation. The word therapy is derived from the Latin word therapeau, which means "God's work".
Translated, hypnotherapy is "God's work through a sleep-like state".
Hypnosis is similar to daydreaming. But unlike daydreaming, hypnosis is deliberate and goal directed. Hypnotherapy is the use of hypnosis in a therapeutic setting to help achieve a specific, achievable short-term goal, such as the following:Habit Control such as nailbiting or bedwetting
Smoking cessation
Stress reduction
Social confidence & Public speaking
Sleep disturbances
Weight management
Pain management
Improving athletic performance
Reach career goals
Interpersonal skills
Hypnotherapists help clients select relevant goals, commit to the achievement of the goals, and carry out posthypnotic suggestions. A posthypnotic suggestion is made while the client is hypnotized. After hypnosis, the client consciously incorporates the suggestion into everyday life to achieve a specific goal, such as stopping cigarette smoking or overcoming the fear of speaking in front of an audience.
Hypnotherapy is a therapeutic tool, and the hypnotherapist is a facilitator of behavior change. For many of the desired goals, such as self-confidence and curbing unwanted habits, hypnotherapists work with clients to provide a means of behavioral change. When necessary, hypnotherapists work with primary care physicians (e.g., in medical conditions such as cancer).
Hypnotherapists combine hypnosis with relaxation techniques, affirmations, guided imagery, reframing, and goal-setting techniques. For example, a hypnotherapist may help a patient who is preparing to undergo a surgical procedure by teaching the client to mentally rehearse the procedure, thereby reframing a feared event into a relaxed and healing event.
Hypnotherapy is based on the theory of the mind-body connection, which means that accessing the subconscious can effect change in the body. When used in hypnotherapy, hypnosis can enhance one's own healing potential.
The power of thought is real and you can learn to use it to make anything possible. You create your reality by projecting an image of it in your imagination. Your perception is your reality. If you constantly believe a thing is going to happen, it probably will happen. Positive thinking by the means of imagination becomes an effective exercise, capable of transforming your entire life. YOU HAVE THE POWER TO DO ANYTHING YOU WANT AND IT STARTS WITHIN YOUR MIND. Hypnotherapists are teachers. I teach my clients how to use a simple process that gets the body and mind communicating. I teach my clients how to better take control of themselves and their lives.
Hypnosis and guided imagery are two of the most powerful tools available for deliberate and focused control of your mind. It is important for you to know that guided imagery, the focused use of your power of imagination, is not fantasy. Guided imagery sets up energy patterns within your body and mind that can have a profound effect on your state of well being. The sort of image you hold of yourself is very important. That image will very likely become fact. The thought comes before the deed. If you precondition your mind with thoughts of success, the deeds of success naturally tend to follow. For some people, visualization is a very simple process. For others it is more difficult. That is why hypnotherapists use primal imagery . Images that anyone can draw from memory. Thus, anyone can be assured of success using this technique. The language of the subconscious is pictures. To get in touch with the subconscious centers you must think in vivid pictures visualization. Hypnosis is merely focused thought. All hypnosis is self-hypnosis, and everyone is capable of using guided imagery to make life-style changes. The use of hypnosis is like any exercise program. To be of lasting value, it must be practiced daily. You can learn to better focus your attention and allow suggestions to have an impact on your subconscious mind. I can teach and coach but you do the exercises. You must be motivated to learn from me, as with learning anything and practice increases the learning experience.
During a hypnotic session you will be quite aware of your surroundings, you will hear sounds if they occur, but wont be distracted by them. You will be able to get up and walk away should you need to do so. You will not be unconscious, but will remain very aware of your surroundings. In reality, your senses become sharper and clearer in a state of hypnosis; more so than in your normal state of awareness. When you relax your body and mind, this relaxation quiets the conscious mind and allows the subconscious to become more active. It is highly formalized and directed thought.
The lower centers of our brain respond to many stimuli with instinctive fear. This is why you may find yourself irrationally afraid of perfectly harmless objects, places, situations or ideas. Other centers respond to external stimuli with great feelings of exhilaration. Have you ever started a day where you felt inexplicably joyous and energetic? Humans also have an ability that transcends all others. We have the power of imagination. The power to create dreams and to bring these dreams into reality. If you have the desire, you can gain the control you need to make any lifestyle change you want.
In my cassette tapes I have developed imagery based on the fact that we are one with the earth, the air, the ocean and all living things. For most of your adult life you have been trained to use the left side of your brain, the part that knows facts and figures, numbers and letters. But we will call upon images that are already a part of you to better develop the feeling, intuitive and creative part of your brain as well. We will draw on your primal nature and your kinship with the forces of nature to insure your success and your successful use of self-hypnosis. The sounds of the ocean and rivers, the sensory vision and memory construction of sunlight, the serene comfort of the cool green earth, will all help you to release tension and to develop a mastery of your innate skill for creative imagery. And through guided imagery, with a minimum of practice, youll find that direct communication between your body and mind becomes an easy task. Imagery is the language of the subconscious mind and the subconscious mind controls many of your body functions and emotional responses. It is your sleeping giant that can put incredible power in your hands. Power over habits, fears, tensions, stress, pain, confidence, and even your mental and physical state of well being. I am confident, as you soon will be, that this unique form of self-hypnosis will help you to achieve ultimate success if used on a daily basis. Think of it, less that an hour out of each day for a lifetime of success. With both sides of your brain functioning in harmony youll receive far greater success in reaching your goals than you ever anticipated. I will guide you and help you develop your ability to visualize. Like any exercise, I can teach and coach you, but you will be doing the actual work .and you will reap the actual benefits. As you practice daily, youll be amazed in a week at how quick you can go into a deep state of relaxation. Do this well, do this for yourself. You deserve it.
