2. Print & post this sheet in a prominent place and review the suggestions each day as you prepare to attend a smoking cessation session.
THINKING ABOUT QUITTING
_____ Decide that you want to quit. Plan to take a positive approach to the process of quitting.
_____ List all the reasons why you want to quit. Review this list daily.
_____ Develop Strong personal reasons in addition toyour health and obligations to others. For example, think of all the time you waste taking cigarette breaks, rushing out to buy a pack, hunting for a light, etc.
_____ Set a target for quitting ..perhaps a special day like your birthday, your anniversary, a holiday. Mark that date on your calendar.
_____ Begin to prepare yourself physically .start a modest exercise regimen, drink more fluids, get plenty of rest and avoid being fatigued.
_____ Bet a friend you can quit on your target date.
_____ Ask your significant other or a friend to quit with you.
_____ Switch to a brand you find distasteful.
_____ Change to a brand that is low in tar and nicotine a couple of weeks before your target date. This will help lessen your physical dependence on cigarettes.
_____ Try not to smoke two packs of the same brand in a row.
